The objective of this student project was to understand the ideology of "Design as Author" by creating a book that was completely of our own ownership. Therefore, all design, photography and writings are my own.
This book is called "You're Here" and it talks about the ways you can enjoy being in Auburn, Alabama, by exploring the novel places in a 20 mile radius of the "loveliest village on the plains", Auburn University. This book was set up as if I could continue the a series, including other areas of Alabama.
It features places to visit in Auburn, but also includes the nearby towns of Opelika, Loachapoka, Waverly, and Salem.
EXPOSURE | Identity Project
The objective of this student project was to create a brand identity for a hypothetical company including a logo, stationery suite, and 3 forms of advertisement.
EXPOSURE, is a company located in New Orleans, LA. It is committed to the art of black and white film photography. EXPOSURE offers a monthly membership for photographers that shoot film as a hobby or as their profession. This membership includes access to their in-house darkroom and film development lab, a studio space for scheduled shoots, and a gallery exhibition space.
Vibrant Minds | Identity Project
The objective of this student project was to create a brand identity for a hypothetical conference, retail store, or non profit including a logo and stationery suite.
Vibrant Minds is a professional development conference taking place in Birmingham, AL at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center on April 24-25, 2014. This conference is set up to teach educators and administrators how to promote creativity in the classroom through art activities. Vibrant Minds aims to engage elementary educators and administrators in a series of inspiring presentations, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to work with artists in preparation to start teaching in a new way, promoting creativity. This means, educators will leave with a new outlook on the importance of art in the classroom to supplement a child’s learning and problem-solving skills.
In addition to the required stationery suite, I chose to create a few other pieces: a confirmation ticket, name tags for attendees, name tag for staff, and itinerary of events.
Grace & the Raglans | Identity Project
The objective of this student project was to create an identity and packaging system for a brand.
Grace and the Raglans is a local music artist from Nashville, Tennessee. I chose to brand her. With her various influences, Grace is a both hybrid of genres and she brings something new to the table. Her music sounds semi-folk, somewhat bluesy—with a hint of jazz.
Upon meeting her, you will pick up on her kind and gentle disposition. I wanted her sweet nature to be exuded through her new brand identity. Throughout this identity, you will see quiet, gentle designs that reflect her warm-hearted personality. Although guarded in nature, Grace allows people to get past those walls to learn more about her through her music.
This packaging project includes everything an artist would need for the beginning of selling merchandise online. A shipping box with a paper wrap, a cd with its own case, and a ring that wraps around a shirt. I also came up with a fun marketing campaign - a complimentary set of Grace's favorite kind of tea with every purchase. This is meant to be shared with a friend, so the music of Grace and the Raglans can be shared along with it.
Of Course, I Think A Lot Of You | Book Project
The objective of this student project was to create a book by gathering the text and imagery content and formatting it for it's final production.
This book was a student project and is called "Of Course, I Think a Lot of You". It is based on the best love story I know – my grandparent's. This is an homage to their sweet story focusing on how much they love one another and how they're marriage has gone through tribulations throughout the years as they've met obstacles and how it has lasted. They of course, think a lot of one another, but I think a lot of them as well, hence the title. They are such great examples of a lasting relationship that I knew other's would be interested to read as well. It also doesn't hurt that they looked adorable dating throughout the sixites.
